As if perfectly timed with the shortening days and crossover into fall, the prices on package vacations to Europe

plummet by some $300 as soon as you get to September. With slightly cooler tempreatures and the summer can

from the airport
Edinburgh airport is six miles west of Edinburgh.
Bus number 100 runs to Waverley Bridge. The journey takes 25 minutes and the fare is £3.20.
A taxi into central Edinburgh takes 15-20 minutes. The fare should be about £15.

Hotels
Edinburgh has some excellent hotels, many in moody, magnificent buildings of character as well as sharp,

contemporary properties where the bar is as much of a draw as the rooms.

Restaurants
Edinburgh has more restaurants per head of the population than any other city in the UK, with a new one opening every week.

including the White Hart Inn that used to be patronised by Robert Burns. Good bars away from the tourists include The Pond

(Corner of Bath Road and Salamander Street) and Dizzy Lizzy's (25 Buchanan Street).
