SIMPLY THE BEST

SANTAS HELPERS HEAD FOR CANADA
Why? Because Canada offers great value and fabulous variety. Planning a shopping excursion to Montreal or

Toronto is easy:

Air Canada has twice daily non-stop service from London to Toronto or Montreal until October 28 and daily service

thereafter (www.aircanada.com). Toronto is one of North America’s most outstanding theatre centres,

with an intriguing year-round cultural calendar plus sophisticated boutique shopping for fashion, décor, jewellery -

you name it. Or, be seduced by Montreal’s fabled French charm in haute cuisine restaurants, eclectic museums and

miles of underground high-fashion boutique shopping - a truly romantic getaway.

ARE YOU TOUGH ENOUGH?
The Yukon Quest, the world’s toughest dog sled race, starts in Whitehorse on

February 13, 2005 (www.yukonquest.com). A record number of entrants are expected for

this 1,000 mile international sled dog race, including women as young as 18.

Meet the competitors and see the start of the race, then travel ahead to Dawson City for

the halfway layover, before they continue on to Fairbanks. If that’s not enough,

there’s another tough test: the Arctic Ultra, the extreme winter sporting event of

the North. Starting on February 14, contestants set out on mountain bikes,

cross-country skis and on feet to race anything from a marathon to 300 miles.

In its third year, this fast-growing competition attracts entrants from as far afield as

Australia, England, Germany and New Zealand.

The Yukon Adventure Company has special packages for both contestants and

spectators in both events:
